Windows cant seem to tell what monitor I am using and I think might be the cause of my blurry text. It found the video card without a problem however for monitor it just says "generic PnP" any advice here?
Same story for my sound which I am using the motherboard sound devices for. Windows cant find it and I cant install drivers becuase the driver program doesnt know what operating system this is...;)

Blury text
I believe that most of us are using "peneric PnP" I am using a Dell monitor that had a specific profile under XP, same with my SGI...but they are generic under Vista, needless to say Dell has NO info regarding this monitor on their site.

Is your monitor a LCD or CRT model? If it is a CRT, try disabling ClearType.

I do have CRT, tried what you suggested, not much difference. Plans to buy a LCD this weekend anyway for other reasons so knowing this is helpful thanks.

What resolution are you running at? I found that running at 1024x768 with 8 point screen fonts was very blurry. Increasing the resolution to 1280x960 and using the default Segoe UI font with ClearType enable was almost readable again. I do wish that Avalon would use the XP method of displaying fonts at smaller sizes though. -- Michael Cecil http://home.comcast.net/~macecil/ http://home.comcast.net/~safehex/
Increasing the resolution helped a ton! In fact I took it one more step and ran out and replaced my old CRT with a 21' flat widescreen from samsung and it changed my entire experience! Running at the highest res which gave me a low 56hz refresh I seemed to notice flicker but not anymore (perhaps it autocorrected). What I found intresting is that even running one level lower then the highest level for this monitor made everything look dramatically less crisp. It could be becuase its a widescreen and any resolution that doesnt fit the same ratio looks odd.
Now everything looks as if its running on a Mac. fantastic!
Now if the guys at asus can get my onboard audio working I will be all set. "Michael Cecil" wrote:
